Dissapointed with the dealership
It's hard for me to write a negative review, but my experience with Hendrick Automotive left me no choice. I tried several times to communicate about a listed vehicle, despite my own busy schedule, and all I received were generic, unhelpful responses.
The lack of care and professionalism was frankly surprising and disappointing. Before reaching out, I checked Google reviews and saw mostly positive feedback, which gave me some reassurance. However, my actual experience mirrored the BBB's one-star rating more than anything else. The apathy and lack of genuine communication from this dealership raise serious concerns about how they truly operate behind the glossy review platforms.
My experience does not justify the high-rated reviews on Birdeye. Where do these reviews even come from?
Wow. Bottom line: if you're an out-of-state buyer, I do not believe this is the dealership for you.
- Good selrction of vehicles
- Apathy no communication
Preferred solution: I am no longer looking for anything out of this dealership.
User's recommendation: Don't bother unless you are physically present inside the dealership where your existance can be felt.

July 2025 - Have check engine light on, P026D possible injectors, NOT COVERED BECAUSE "Oil does not touch it"
Aug. 2024 I had a check engine light come on in my vehicle, called the Hendrick Certified Warranty number and was told to make an appointment at a dealer that would honor the warranty.I made an appointment at Pioneer Chevrolet in Abingdon VA on 8-14-24.
At the dealer they told me that "diagnostics led to nox sensor test", and I was told that it needed to be done but if the nox sensor was not the problem that I would be charged for the regen test. I had no alternatives at the time so I told them to go ahead.
They ran service regens multiple times and had no error codes come back and the nox sensor reset. Also they unhooked the GPS from the OBDII (disconnected the Lojack that was installed at the selling dealer), said it might be causing the issue.
I was charged for 4 hours of labor ( note on back of the service note said 1.0 + 3.0 regen = 4.0 hrs).
Cost was $546.33. Was told since nothing was replaced the warranty would not be honored.
User's recommendation: Avoid anything with a Hendrick Warranty.

Sale tactics are rush rush rush. Once I purchased, I could get no one on the phone.
Be careful, these guys will have you signing papers before you know you even bought a car. DEMAND GAP AND BE SURE YOU CHECK. I demanded it, we had an entire conversation about it, he talked my ear off while signing and I didnt double check.
No Gap. Cost me about $4000 later, and they wont return any phone calls at the finance office.
- Large inventory

Purchased a brand new 2019 Honda Civic in 2019. Went to dealership where I purchased the vehicle to get warranty work done.
Before work could be done, I was informed that I had to provide the sales ticket that was on the vehicle. I have never in my life since buying new vehicles since 1973 was I asked to provide the sales ticket that was on the vehicle. The maintenance supervisor Bohlen, Hendrick Honda, Charleston SC. I was in the market for a truck in 2023 and decided Hendrick Honda in Charleston was not a good place to buy a vehicle.
I purchased new truck at another dealership. Fast-forward to Feb 2025, took both the 2017 and the 2019 Honda Civics (both purchased at Hendrick Honda Charleston SC) for oil change. Will never take any car I own to Hendrick Honda of Charleston. They did something wrong to both vehicles, both immediately had low gas mileage and sluggish start.
Neither had get-up and go they had before the oil change. No oil change should produce such an outcome. If they put in the wrong oil or did something else, they will never see or touch any of my vehicles. Contacted the General Manager Brandon Boyd who stated how honest and reliable his workers were and how great his dealership was.
His response got this response from me, "I will never buy a car from your dealership and will never bring any auto I own to your dealship for maintenance not even a oil change. Hendrick Honda of Charleston, DSC CONSUMERS DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU WANT QUALITY SERVICE.
User's recommendation: DO NOT GO THERE!

Verified Reviewer |Unethical sales tactics
The dealership puts tools on their website to help you value your vehicle then does not stand by them and will tell you they are not accurate. Dealerships should be required by law to either ensure these tools are accurate or do not use them.
Bait and Switch tactics at their finest!! I have purchased from Hendrick Certified Pre-Owned in the past and was very pleased. I travel from a neighboring state because of their selection and can trust their service department. Backstory: Recently, I was looking at trading my vehicle for an another certified BMW.
I received some numbers locally through dealers and the value was in the range of the online valuation sites and very acceptable. Issue was there were no great choices for vehicles I was really interested in. I see the exact model I am interested in at Hendricks BMW. I do an online offer, which includes Hendricks website trade-in valuation.
The valuation comes back very close to the prior offers and I submit my deal. I call and speak to a salesperson who was very professional, although newer and a little pushy, but he was doing his job and I was fine with that. I let him know I submitted a deal online and based my trade-in value off 3 local offers I have in writing and his dealerships online tool. Later that day, I receive an email from the salesperson with a counteroffer.
No negotiation, no counter offer, does not want to see the other local offers from local dealerships. Take it or leave it, so I leave it. I have owned 14 BMW's, numerous other cars and in the market to also buy my wife a new car and loves the new X7.
I have never been so offended and treated like a non-customer in all my years of purchasing and trading cars in my life. If this is how Hendrick BMW has become, they already lost my business I will make sure people think twice before giving the dealership business.

Pissed off nothing is being done!
back on and he was looking at what it could be. Then came back that it must be a gasket.
I was told by the advisor she would run the claim on Monday first thing in the morning. Here we are 2 weeks later. I havnt heard a word and even followed up to see if it had been done. I havnt been reimbursed from the warranty on the rental.
Like all over this has been the worse experience and if I wasn't locked into having to use the dealership due to the warranty I am paying extra for I could have had my car fixed by a competent shop in less time and be able to use my vehicle like I should be able to and not have to worry about it breaking down on me and for probably cheaper!
My gas milage is shot due to the issue, i can smell the gases coming off of it and when i accelerate to cross 3 lanes of traffic it almost feels as if its going to stall and then it finally catches and goes. This is an issue and I don't know who to go to with this.
User's recommendation: Don't do it!!!!
Subject: Extremely Disappointing Service Experience with Roman at Jeep Service Department
Im extremely frustrated with the service I received from Roman at the Jeep service department. I dropped my car off at 8 AM, expecting professional communication and updates.
By 4 PM, I hadnt received any word, so I had to call them myself. Roman seemed surprised that I hadnt heard from him and casually asked if I hadnt received an invoice or text. He then told me my car was almost done and promised to call me within the hour once he had my keys in hand. That call never came.
When I arrived at the service department, it was already closed.
I had to rely on the sales employees, who were kind enough to help, but this situation should never have happened in the first place. Im seriously questioning the systems and processesor lack thereofthat this service department has in place.
Whats most disappointing is that, despite the consistently poor service, the burden is always placed on the customer. Were forced to pay and jump through hoops, even if an issue that didnt exist before suddenly appears. Ive tried to give this service department multiple chances, but each time, Im let down.
This is unacceptable, especially from what should be a convenient and experienced team.
These issues need to be addressed immediately. This kind of service is unacceptable, and its time for the management to step up and fix these problems.

Verified ReviewerAlleged White Collar Crime at Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM
Mrs. Helen Rogers (born 7/9/1947) is a victim of Financial Exploitation of the Elderly in the First-Degree (Alabama Code Title 13A.
Criminal Code § 13A-6-195) by the Finance Manager, Christopher Cornelius, at Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM at 1624 Montgomery Hwy, Hoover, AL 35216. Christopher's friend, Bruce Jones, was heard discussing Mrs. Rogers financial status at the dealership prior to April 15, 2022--the day he brought her there under false pretenses. Upon doing a background check, we discovered that Bruce Jones has 8 aliases, about 22 residential addresses dating back to 2011, no employment of record, and he made up a church name which he obtained a license for April 5, 2022, ten days before driving a very confused Mrs.
Rogers 28 miles from her home to the dealership where the truck he had selected was waiting.
Bruce led Mrs. Rogers to believe that he wanted her to accompany him to search for a pick-up truck that was reasonable. He asked her to loan him a down payment, if it was required. When she proceeded to ask questions about the truck that Bruce had already chosen, Christopher insisted that she had to "feed the computer" her personal information before the computer could generate the answers to her questions.
She told him, more than once, that she didn't come to buy a truck. She asked why she had to provide her social security number. Christopher and Bruce edged her on, stating that she had to answer all of the questions in the application. She asked if she was filling out an application and Christopher assured her that it was a "mock" application.
When she finished, Christopher deceived her into signing an electronic tablet to allow him to make himself a power of attorney over the pick-up truck.
With the POA, he registered the truck to Bruce Jones. Mrs. Rogers was not provided any information or paperwork, initially. ALL of the documents pertaining to the transaction were given to Bruce Jones.
Mrs. Rogers finally realized what the two men had done to her. She told me she was afraid for her well-being. She asked Bruce to take her home and told him not to drive the truck off of the lot because she was not buying a truck.
He took her home in the same vehicle used to get her there. Apparently, he went to the dealership and got the truck because it is in his possession. Mrs. Rogers was treated with depraved indifference by Christopher Cornelius and Joel Smith, the sales manager has failed to respond to our request to terminate the illegally obtained sell.
Mrs.
Rogers was denied any documentation from Christopher Cornelius until she brought a man who is close to the family with her to demand any paperwork containing her signature. We have provided reports with the proper consumer protection agencies, the police and more. It doesn't have to go any further. It is obvious that Christopher Cornelius and Bruce Jones believed that Mrs.
Rogers would be helpless to do anything about the fraud act. Please let them know that it would be in the best interest of the company for the truck to be returned and the contract voided out. Mrs. Rogers lost her daughter in 2021 due to COVID-19.
She is still grieving. She has been treated with abominable cruelty by the administrative personnel at Hendrick Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM in Hoover, Alabama. Rick Hendrick, age 72, should not want it said that the elderly are targets at the dealership representing his name.
An ethical company, with integrity, would terminate the contract for the 2017 Chevrolet Truck Silverado 1500, VIN # 3GCUKREC9HG326180. Christopher Cornelius should cease attempting to get Mrs.
Rogers to return to the dealership.
We are asking that he refrain from contacting his accomplice, Bruce Jones, to have him harass Mrs. Rogers with calls, text messages and unwanted visits to her home.
- Christopher used trickery to get my credit information
Preferred solution: Cancel their illegal obtained contract. Deception was used to gain signatures and my personal information. I did not know that they were making me complete an application and a POA.

I was told that the vehicle I was purchasing would be ready by a particular date, I was lied to by sales associate and car wasnt ready until days later. The Salesperson, that wasnt the one that sold me the car and some other person (absolutely no clue who they were), gave me two different reasons for why car wasnt ready, gave me a complete run around and when I would call them back, they stopped answering my calls. Total disregard and beyond disrespectful to a customer. Not to mention, so unprofessional and rude!!
What a waste of time this dealership is and the customer service is *** Sales Associates need to show some professionalism and treat customers with respect!!

Hendrick Chevrolet Dealership Cary, North Carolina
Deplorable experience with the current sales manager on Friday. The dealership is just not the same without Cameron Singleton leading the team!!
Devonte Battle is absolutely phenomenal to work with and should seriously be running that store. I'll never purchase another vehicle from them again due to the sales manager (who will remain nameless). As a very LOYAL customer over many years, you would think that the sales manager would have an ounce of graciousness, respect and kindness for long term customers. Once the chip shortage is fixed and the car lots are back to being packed with vehicles, it will be the long-term customers that return time and time again, but not in this case.
Sometimes you come across people that have no business working in a customer service industry. To quote Investopedia, "Good customer service is critical to business success, ensuring brand loyalty one customer at a time."
Said sales manager insisted on charging me $6k for tires that I already paid the exact same dealership for in 2020. The kicker was that the new 2022 Tahoe didn't even have the 22" tires on it yet, so it could've been an easy swap, but not for him.
He wanted me to pay for new 22's and then make another $6k off of the 22's I already paid for on my 2020 Tahoe that are in pristine condition. Now, I may be a woman and I may be blonde, but I'm not a fool and I'll be driving the distance to give all of my future business to Cameron along with letting every person I know to never buy from that dealership ever agDain!
- Horrible customer service
- No customer loyalty

If I were you I would leave your exact post on any review site I could. I also would use the BBB as a tool going forward to measure company engagement/response to consumer complaints and stay clear on dealerships that don’t address issues.
You can FORGET the BBB! The BBB is a Pay-For-Play scam.
The BBB is a DECEPTION itself. They call themselves a "bureau" to CON the public into thinking they are a government agency WHEN THEY ARE NOT! The ONLY purpose of the BBB is to SELL their FAKE RATINGS and FAKE ACCREDITATIONS. When a slimeball car dealer which does business by adding BOGUS, FAKE FEES buys their own FAKE "A+" rating, all the bad reviews vanish.
The BBB is NOT part of any government or law enforcement body and has ZERO POWER over ANY business. When it comes to honesty and integrity in the business community, the PHONY BALONY BBB is most definitely NOT part of it= ABSOLUTE FACT!
